Coast Guard Innovation Expo 2008 emphasizes collaboration

WASHINGTON — The eighth annual U.S. Coast Guard Innovation Expo kicks off Monday at the Virginia Beach Convention Center,Virginia Beach, Va., with the theme of "Collaboration Fuels Innovation."   

The four-day event will focus on the notion that the collaborative exchange of ideas is the most critical element of innovation. Scheduled keynote speakers include: 
          On Tuesday – Capt. D. Michael Abrashoff, USN (ret.), founder and Chief Executive Officer, GrassRoots Leadership and GRL Solution (www.grassrootsleadership.com).  He is also the author of bestselling book, "It's Your Ship." 
          On Wednesday –  Mr. Jonathan Walters, Senior Correspondent, Governing Magazine; and Mrs. Lisa Bodell, Chief Executive Officer, FutureThink.

Other speakers scheduled to participate in panel discussions include representatives from the Department of Defense, Joint Capability Technology Demonstration Program, and Advanced Systems & Concepts; Department of Homeland Security, Maritime Security Program, and First Responder Technologies; Naval Postgraduate School; the U.S. Air Force; and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Innovation Expo brings together the Coast Guard, industry and other government agencies for open dialog and discussions to promote innovation.  More than 1,000 attendees and more than 300 exhibits will create an exceptional environment for information exchange and business intelligence related to Coast Guard desires and requirements for innovative products and services.
