Coast Guard establishes a special local regulation for IJSBA World Finals

LAKE HAVASU, Ariz. – U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego has established a safety zone for the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) World Finals closed-course personal watercraft races scheduled to be held Oct. 10 thru the 18 on Lake Havasu.

The purpose of the safety zone is to ensure the safety of the racers and non-participants, including recreational boaters, and to inform them of the restrictions placed on Lake Havasu for boating traffic during the event.

The safety zone will encompass the waters in the vicinity of Crazy Horse RV and Campground and will be in effect each day from sunrise to sunset.

Persons and vessels are prohibited from entering into, transiting through, or anchoring within the safety zone unless authorized by the Coast Guard Patrol Commander (PATCOM).

While on the water, boaters are encouraged to make contact with the vessels enforcing the safety zone. Event organizers will provide vessels marked with a large orange sign “Caution – Event in Progress.”  All perimeter vessels will have informational flyers indicating the length of the safety zone and event status.

PATCOM can be reached on VHF channel 16 while the safety zone is in effect.
